Bose Forest Garden

Our newest property, the Bose Forest Garden was donated by Omar Bose and his daughter, Madelon Bolling, in 2021. A Japanese immigrant, Omar and his first wife lost their farm in Oregon during WWII when he was sent to an internment camp. After the war, Omar traveled back to Japan and remarried, and his 2nd wife brought chestnut seeds from Japan and planted them on this property, where they lived and gardened until old age. This 2-acre site now features mature chestnuts and fruit trees that are the legacy of this gracious family. The property also contains 2 rental houses that OSALT owns and manages.
