Pioneers and Settlers

OSALT is looking for some special people, people who understand that all economies are based on agriculture, and that we must protect our precious agricultural lands and develop sustainable agricultural methods; People who know that sustainable agriculture is the key to sustainable societies.

OSALT is building an Endowment Fund of $33,000,000. That's right, 33 million dollars - enough so that the annual income for land acquisition, research and education will be one million dollars from the low-interest loan fund. (See The Endowment Fund.)

OSALT is looking for 1,000 Pioneers.

In our efforts to build The Endowment Fund, OSALT is looking for 1,000 very special people - Pioneers, 1,000 people who understand the importance of protecting agricultural lands and are willing and able to support OSALT's Endowment Fund with a donation of $1,000, starting The Endowment Fund with its first $1,000.000.

There will only be 1,000 OSALT Pioneers. Each of these Pioneers will be acknowledged as part of a permanent display at the OSALT Research and Education Center.

Will you be one of the 1,000 people who provide early support to The Endowment Fund, to free OSALT from continuous, repeated fundraising which drains time and energy from our central focus: protecting agricultural lands, developing sustainable agricultural practices and disseminating the knowledge as widely as possible.

OSALT is looking for 10,000 Settlers.

Many of us have the passion for protecting land, but more limited ability to donate money. Just as there are always a limited number of pioneers, and their contributions are essential, it is ultimatley those that come after who move an idea from the possible to the real. These are the settlers. Just as OSALT needs 1,000 Pioneers, we also need 10,000 Settlers, those who will donate between $100 and $999.
