Lands in Process with OSALT
OSALT works with people and organizations who are interested in protecting particular parcels of land, and keeping them in agricultural use.
When we find a potential partner who is interested in protecting a specific site, we enter into an agreement with them to acquire the land, then to evaluate the needs and desires of the community around the land, as well as the intent of the donor of the land in cases where the owner donates the land to OSALT.
In cases where the land needs to be purchased, the person leading the effort to protect the site will conduct a fundraising effort to raise funds to buy the land, often in conjunction with a donation of some of the value of the land by the current owner.
In either case, these lands are considered "in process".
